Adults can build on this learning through the scaffolding process. Provide extra support and supervision by placing yourself in areas that have many children.

How will this support my learning throughout my schooling?
Whether you’re in social work, family studies, education, or any other related field, teaching preschoolers provides valuable opportunities to put your coursework into practice.

Can I narrow the locations I am willing to travel to?
Yes, but you may get asked to go somewhere else with a dire need.

Will I receive sick time?
There is some sick time for Classroom Aides (subs).

What kind of training do I need?
Several Essentials training modules spanning socio-emotional learning strategies (Pyramid Model) and curriculum (Connect 4 Learning) are covered for the Classroom Aide.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen?
Yes, you need U.S. citizenship and a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Before I work with children, what steps do I need to take?
You’ll need a current LiveScan check with the Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records. As you communicate with Kent ISD human resources, you will get more information on this.
